The book is one of the 14 books of Classical Chinese Poetry and Prose. It is a translation of a curated collection of poems written between the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, spanning over one Millenium. Xu Yuan Chong is a professor emeritus of Chinese language and literature at Peking University. The book is divided into two sections, with the English translation as the first section and the original text in Classical Chinese and modern Chinese footnotes are appended right after the English translation in the second section of the book.
